THE IMPACT OF NPRD IN THE RURAL ENVIRONMENT AND ESPECIALLY IN ROMANIAN AGRICULTURE IS A MAJOR ONE. In addition to the clear and unequivocal infusion of over 7.6 billion euros in the development and modernization of agriculture and rural infrastructure, European funds have ensured the increase in the standard of living for those living in rural areas, by developing not only the rural economy, but and the entire rural area. NPRD also provided for investments in services, in utilities and in encouraging all activities in the rural area.
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- 75,000 farmers benefited from the funds allocated throughout the NPRD
- 2,787 vegetal and animal agricultural holdings supported
- 44,794 hectares protected from floods
- 335,650 hectares modernized and rehabilitated in terms of irrigation infrastructure
over 100 thousand jobs created in rural areas
over 3,606 km of agricultural and forestry roads built
over 3 million inhabitants of the rural area benefit from the rural infrastructure created and modernized through the village renovation and development measure.
The need to modernize Romanian villages is very high, compared to the financial allocation that was available during this 7-year period. However, it cannot be denied that the financial support obtained so far by rural communities has led to tangible results with a beneficial effect on the lives of rural residents.
7,245 km of water supply and sewage network were built
3,290 non-agricultural SMEs were established or developed
1,861 projects involving tourism activities financed through NPRD
The restoration and modernization of the cultural and social infrastructure was foreseen in 3 projects that had this objective. Another 723 kilometers of communal roads affected by floods in 2010 were rebuilt, through 158 projects.

the establishment, expansion and modernization of 2,900 km of water supply network
the establishment, expansion and modernization of 4,345 km of sewage network (272 projects)
Young farmers had an important dynamic in the interest in obtaining the NPRD funds.
Measure 112 "Installation of young farmers": 12,669 financing contracts have been signed with young farmers, worth 320 million euros. The payments made to young farmers exceed 305 million euros.
Measure 121 "Modernization of agricultural holdings": 756 million euros for 2,787 contracts to finance investment projects . At the same time, were made payments of approximately 662 million euros.
In order for Romania's agricultural economy to become competitive at the European and international level, it is necessary to increase the added value of products obtained on farms. The lack of high standard processing has been the weak point for achieving an increase in agricultural income. Romanian agricultural products are recognized as having a high quality, but they must be processed in the country and not exported as such.
Measure 123 "Increasing the added value of agricultural and forestry products":
1,625 beneficiaries applied for European funds, 925 financing contracts were signed with a total non-refundable value of over 610 million euros. For the beneficiaries of Measure 123 were made payments of approximately 520 million euros.
Measure 221 "The first afforestation of agricultural land": 52 financial applications submitted, of which 20 projects were contracted with a non-refundable value of 1.38 million euros.
Measure 312 of support for the creation and development of micro-enterprises: 9,499 financial applications submitted with 2,616 projects contracted to date, with a non-refundable value of approximately 325 million euros. Up to now, payments have been made in the amount of 315 million euros.
Rural tourism and agro-tourism in Romania owes a good part of its development to the European funds implemented through the Agency.
Measure 313 "Encouraging tourist activities":
1,244 projects were contracted, worth over 174 million euros. About 138 million euros were paid for the projects financed by this Measure. From the investments made by the beneficiaries of Measure 313, a greater importance is given to the leisure part related to tourist services, something that denotes an accelerated development in this sector.
Measure 322 for the renovation and development of villages:
more than 3,317 financial applications were submitted, worth 7.65 billion euros. The amount allocated by the NPRD for this measure until 2013, 1.60 billion euros, has been exceeded more than 4 times. To date, 891 projects with a non-refundable value of approximately 1.83 billion euros have been contracted, and over 1.52 billion euros being paid.
